Marvel is home to a slew of famous superheroes like The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, and Spiderman, to name a few. They’re all big-name characters that most of you have probably heard of.
But there are a lot of superheroes who are very important in the Marvel Universe, and popular for those who actively keep up with the comics. Sadly, their names are lost on the general populace.
For instance, The Vision, Namor, the Scarlet Witch, and Hercules (yes, the Hercules from Greek mythology) are extremely complex and powerful superheroes, and have been a part of the Marvel mythology for a long time. Yet no one has ever sought to make films about them. It’s a shame, because these often overlooked heroes have been key players in the world of Marvel comics for years, and they bring a lot to the table with their varied backstories and super powers.
You’re probably thinking Ant Man? He doesn’t sound important. What the does he even do?
Well, dear readers, Ant Man is one of the oldest members of the Avengers; in fact, he was there when they first discovered Captain America frozen in a block of ice. He’s acted as a leader and teacher to other superheroes, and fought alongside the best of them to save the world. You’ve just never heard of him because he’s had yet to be given a shot at the big screen. As for his powers, well, they’re actually pretty cool – he can shrink to become the size of an ant, or grow to become a thirty-foot tall giant with superhuman strength.
A teaser trailer was shown exclusively at Comic Con 2012 in San Diego, and hopefully it won’t be long before the rest of us can see it, too. Given how awesome “The Avengers” was, I’ve got high hopes for this film as well.
Do you think you’ll see “Ant Man?” Did you know of the character before reading this post? Do you think this movie will be a success, or a flop? Give us you 2cents!
