What's Your Take?

It was released today by the Times Union that Governor Cuomo had a little something to do with the location change for Obama’s visit last week.

Gov. Cuomo’s office urged the White House to reconsider the location from the Malta site of GlobalFoundries to the Albany Nanotechnology campus.

White House spokesmen, Cuomo’s office and GlobalFoundries personnel all claim that the rescheduled location for Obama’s visit was based on “logistical” factors.

Cuomo’s office used a list of positives to get the President stoked on UAlbany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, with less positives leading towards GlobalFoundries, such as that it is owned by foreign interests.

All in all, the President came, he saw, he spoke, he left.

Do you think that the location of Obama’s visit was all that important? Do you think it should’ve taken place in Malta instead? Do you think it matters? Did you hear his speech? Do you think Cuomo shouldn’t have stepped in?

Outside of the local media, the president’s visit to Albany wasn’t even a blip on the radar. I think the bear that made its way to the Stockade section of Schenectady was a bigger news story.
